Wind energy powers more than 60 gigawatts of renewable energy in the United States without producing any weirdness, pollution, or water use (“What We Do”). Furthermore, nuclear energy uses approximately 600 times more water and fossil fuels approximately 500 times more water than wind energy to create the same amount of energy (“Wind Energy and Birds”). Additionally, coal produces more than 70% of the energy sector's greenhouse gases, but only creates less than 40% of the energy (“Why Wind Power”). Being efficient is one of the many benefits of wind energy. Wind energy is also affordable, as its price has dropped significantly. Over the past 20 years, the cost of wind energy has decreased by 85% ("Wind Energy"), and in the 1980s wind energy cost 40 cents per kWh, but now it is only 2.5-5 cents per kWh ("Why Wind Power"). Despite the many benefits, citizens complain that wind turbines are very dangerous to wildlife, even more so than fossil fuels, which does not respect the quality of life. In addition to that, only 7% of the United States is powered by wind energy
