As part of a group case presentation to understand co-occurring disorders, teachers divided the class into several groups with 4 members. My group consists of 4 members and we select Ben's case study for case presentation. For the group presentation, each group member has different roles and my role is to act as a case manager in Ben's case. It was a really good experience for me to work in a group. There are 4 parts in the case presentation, such as definition of co-occurring disorders, theoretical frameworks, factors shaping co-occurring disorders, stigma, and discrimination. For this presentation we first made a group contract and divided each part among the group members. Based on the group contract I have topics such as the definition of co-occurring disorders, Treatment models, Research report for the prevalence of co-occurring disorders. Each member of the group actively worked for their part, but unfortunately we made some mistakes during our presentation. Say no to plagiarism. I am a healthcare worker in India, during my specialization in psychiatric nursing I had the opportunity to meet a person suffering from co-occurring disorders. After speaking with him I understood that a person lives with co-occurring disorders, experiences loneliness, anxiety, depression and faces a lot of stigma and discrimination not only within the family but also in the community. Once I support it, it will be a great relief and motivation for them to live well against stigma and discrimination from society. When I live with a person with co-occurring disorders, I will take care of them as much as possible because caring for people is my compassion and helping people help themselves is my policy. In my experience I have felt that individuals living with co-occurring disorders can impact their relationships with families, friends and in society, legal status in society, financial status, employment status and housing. They can also have a negative impact on their mental, emotional and physical well-being. Physical impacts such as changes in appetite, body temperature, sleep, breathing problems and body pain. The person also has lack of self-confidence and a feeling of self-stigma starts saying that he is not able to recover from the disease and is not able to live in this society. So, it has an emotional impact on a person and he seems to be emotionally weak when he starts sharing his very rare feelings with someone and feel that depression leads to suicidal thoughts and ideations. Furthermore, it disturbs the entire family and circle of friends as well as many family members. they cannot accept that their relative has a co-occurring disorder. Many relatives have difficulty understanding co-occurring disorders and cannot identify ways to treat them. The emotional effects of substance use and mental health problems are different. It includes unexpected mood swings, depression, and confusion while doing any kind of task. Also, sometimes a person is not able to tolerate his emotions which increase his mental stress and this will lead to increased consumption of amount of substance use and there is also a possibility of getting involved in bad activities. Furthermore, it impacts a person's social life..
