Topic > Ethical issues regarding respect in Islamic religion

Respect means the way you treat your elders, your parents, your siblings, your children and everyone around you. It is one of the great ethical questions. Its awareness is very important in one's life because it gives a good effect to life. In case of respect towards elders, one should respect one's elders very much. Because it is very important without this you will not be considered a good person of the society. Society will consider you as society's trash. Since everyone knows that “as you sow, so shall you reap”, it means that everyone will receive the same respect from their children that they gave to their elders. It means we should respect our elders with our heart and soul. Everyone comes to the elderly, not especially our parents, our relatives. Elderly means anyone who is older than you in age and also in experience. In the elderly, the most important thing is your parents. Parents are the ones who support you during your childhood. They are the ones who taught you how to become a good person in society. They help you achieve your goals. They slaughter their rest just for you. So, respecting your parents is very important. They are part of your family, respecting them is as important as respecting your parents. It is because relatives enter into relationship with you only because of your parents, so respecting them is like respecting your parents. So we should really respect them. As far as respect goes, the most important thing is to respect your teachers. Teachers play a vital role in your growth to become a successful man. They teach you how to spend your life properly. They teach you how to become a respectful man in society. Indeed, teachers are an important part of one's life. So, respecting them is really very important. Without respecting them you cannot be a respectful and successful member of society. After parents, elders, relatives and teachers, the most important thing is to respect your children. Children are innocent and cute. They don't know anything. They just notice how much you care for them and how much you love them. Respecting them means truly loving them. I love their innocence and sweetness. Even in Islam, respect for children is very important. We should show leniency towards them instead of brutality. Our last prophet Hazrat Muhammad loves children. He gave them a lot of respect. Every time he saw the children, he stopped and said hello to them. He (SAW) loves his nephew very much. Once she was loving her grandson, a man came and after seeing that she loved her grandsons. He said “O, Prophet of ALLAH, I have ten children but I have never loved them like this”. Upon hearing this, he replied, “Kindness is a sign of faith, and he who is not kind has no faith.” There are many more examples of him regarding love for children. This shows that we should also give respect and love to children because they are part of Islam. From all the above aspects it is clear that we should respect everyone around us. Respecting them is like having respect from them. Respect is a vital ethical issue, nowadays people do not pay any attention to respecting others. They have no kind feelings towards anyone else. People become selfish and respect only for their meanness. It's totally wrong. Islam does not allow us selfishness. We should respect others by heart and by heart.
