Much Ado About Nothing is a work full of deceit, love and, above all, lies. Throughout the play, Shakespeare creates scenes in which misunderstandings and lies help develop and destroy relationships and characters. Couples are influenced by each other's efforts to find love for each other or doubt their love for each other. There are many examples of deception. Pranks played on people often have the best intentions, to make people fall deeply in love or to make someone realize the big mistake they have made. Not all deceptions have good intentions. Although there are many characters in the play, I chose to write my essay about how all the lies affect people's relationships; Benedetto and Beatrice and also Claudio and Hero. I chose these people because lies and deception are a very important part of their relationships and daily lives. As Don Pedro and his brother Don John, Claudio and Benedick return from a victorious war, preparations have been made for their return. Beatrice and Hero plan to greet them and welcome them peacefully into their space and home. Upon their arrival they greet each other after not seeing each other for a long time, apart from the arguments and aggression between Benedetto and Beatrice who always has to argue. This is seen by all the other people who were there wondering if they really hate each other or maybe they are just hiding their feelings and deceiving themselves and others. The opposite happens with the couple Claudio and Hero. The moment Claudio sees Hero he immediately falls in love with her. Say no to plagiarism. Get an original essay At the masquerade ball, everyone has to wear a mask, people feel free to spread rumors and talk about each other because no one knows who he is actually talking to. At the ball, Benedick and Beatrice dance together without knowing who they are paired with. Suddenly Beatrice starts talking to her partner as they continue dancing. And he adds: “he is the prince's jester, a very boring character. His only talent lies in conceiving possible slander." obviously by saying this, he is implying that Benedick is just a loser and that his only job is to entertain the prince. The lie may seem to push them further away from each other, but in reality it is only bringing them closer together. Later in scene 3 Don Pedro, Claudio and Leonato are planning to play a trick on Benedick by making him believe that Beatrice told her cousin Hero that she loved Benedick. This is actually a lie that will have a pretty big effect on what he thinks of her, changing the course of their relationship. Benedick hears what has happened and slips awkwardly into the role of lover when Beatrice comes to call him for dinner and thanks her with a regular line: "Bella Beatrice, I thank you for your labors." This moves their relationship forward. In the third act more or less the same thing happens to Beatrice. Hero and Ursula wait for Beatrice to pass and be within earshot and say that Benedick told Don Pedro that he loves Beatrice. She is shocked by this news that Benedick had hidden feelings for her. Now they both think they love each other. They rejoice in this knowledge. Through deception and lying their feelings for each other have changed very well. Don John's deception had an evil meaning. He decided to ruin everything that was good before relationships. He convinces his friend Borachio to befriend Margaret, a waitress. At night Don John leads Don Pedro and Claudio to the building where Borachio is in the room with Margaret. Through the window of the house, Claudio thinks that the waitress Margherita is actually Hero because they look alike and it is quite dark and.
