When Odysseus first arrives in the Underworld he sees "...the souls of brides and young men and exhausted old men and soft maidens with new hearts to torment , and many men wounded with bronze spears...” (159). Then he sees his friend Elpenor. Elpenor tells Odysseus that he fell from Circe's roof and begs Odysseus to bury him (161-162). spirit of his mother and that's how he found out she was dead. Then he sees Tiresias the Theban who tells him not to harm any of the cattle or sheep of Thrinacia otherwise they will be harmed. He also says that if any of his men touch the cattle but in some If Odysseus manages to escape, he will find trouble at home. Odysseus will have to kill the suitors who have taken control of his house. when he arrives in the land where men know nothing of the sea (161). Afterwards, Odysseus talks to his mother who tells him that his wife is still in his halls, Telemachus holds his lands, and his father is still alive mourning him (163). Three times Odysseus tries to embrace his mother and all three times she slips out of his hands (164). He saw many people he knew, but the next of his friends he spoke to was Agamemnon. Odysseus asks him what fate he met and Agamemnon answers
