They pass many employment and abortion laws along with others. In 1971, during the Phillips v. Martin Marietta, “Supreme Court rules that an employer violates Title VII when it refuses to hire women with young children while hiring similarly situated men.” (https://www.aclu.org/files/). This prevents discrimination during hiring. In 1973, during the Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court rules that a woman's right to abortion is part of her constitutional right to privacy.” (http://civilrights.findlaw.com/civil-rights-overview/ ). This gives women the reproductive rights they wanted. The causes won by African Americans were also important. In the 1896 case Plessy v. Ferguson, the Supreme Court made a decision that "permitted the use of racially segregated 'separate but equal' housing and facilities." (http://civilrights.findlaw.com/civil-rights-overview/). This prevented segregation on buses and other facilities. Another important case was Brown v Board of Education in 1954, in which “the Court prohibited racial segregation in public schools.” (http://civilrights.findlaw.com/civil-rights-overview/). These emblematic cases have had an impact and moved the movement forward by granting more rights to the oppressed. However, the Supreme Court has granted different rights to women and African Americans
