Topic > Persuasive Essay on Facebook Problems

No one can ignore the fact that Facebook is one of the most popular social networking sites in the United States today and especially among teenagers. Since statistics show that 94% of teenagers use Facebook (1). Facebook is a social networking site where people can post what they want, when they want, and to whom they want. Which is somehow good to have such an ability to do these things; for example, people can make new friends, spread their ideas and thoughts that might be useful to others, they can also do business. However, it can also be a way to solve many problems, such as pornography, drug trafficking and scams; and unfortunately, teenagers are the largest segment of society that suffers from these problems. Because problems can't be solved if people don't know and don't see that a problem exists. Parents may see that their teens spend a lot of time on Facebook, and they may also see that their teens are affected by Facebook use, for example, they get lower grades and become less socially directed, so parents should pay them more attention . Facebook organizers explain what parents should do to protect their children (6). Everyone should help to demonstrate the importance of parental intervention; for example, the media, government, and schools. All of them have the responsibility to help parents solve the problem. After that, parents know the risks their kids might face; they should now take some actions to avoid these risks. Parents should first review the teenagers' Facebook privacy settings, tag setting, posting setting and friends list, and their children should be aware of this, then they should talk to them and try to make them understand how it will affect wasting a lot of time on Facebook their future by humiliating themselves and creating a story that may not be acceptable and may be shameful in the future. Patents should be very careful, logical and in tune because teenagers at this stage of their life are very sensitive and if parents were not careful, the results could be negative and this could lead them to a different kind of life.
