I. Introduction/Problem StatementI want to determine what gender messages are portrayed in Girl Scouts Vs. Boy Scouts. With both groups, researchers studied the gendered messages described in scouting manuals, but did not examine what was actually conveyed to girls and boys. I will take the proposed gendered messages that have been defined in text analysis research and determine whether these are the message conveyed to the Scouts. These messages are that Girl Scouts are taught femininity, how to be homemakers and caregivers, but they should also be able to provide for themselves, so to speak, at least a little, and Boy Scouts are taught masculinity, responsibility and obedience. To do this I will test them in an observational context and, in addition to this, I will compile a survey for boys, their parents and for girls and their parents/leaders to determine what they believe these organizations are teaching their children . In the research I discovered that no one went to specifically observe the girls and boys involved in scouting or their parents to look for gender messages, they only analyzed the manuals. I would like to find out if what is represented in the manuals is actually what children are taught. With this research, one can determine why Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are successful in empowering children and preparing them for later life. It could also help expand the visions of Scouting so that they can stop the stereotypical gender messages that are presented to young people so that they can lead even more fulfilling lives in adulthood.II. Literature ReviewsIn my search for studies focusing on gender messages in scouting I found many articles that looked...... halfway down the paper...... it was established that religion does not play an important role in socialization.Sites webFacts about Girl Scouting.
