We all have characteristics that come from our parents as well as ourselves. In Frankenstein Victor was an example of how someone's child ends up being different from his parents. The monster in the novel showed how cruelty and abandonment can affect a person's mentality. Shelley tries to show readers that loneliness is the worst thing that can ever happen to someone. It is as bad as death; loneliness is the worst kind of murder. The characteristics we have are related to the characteristics our parents have. We grow into ourselves thanks to the care of our parents and, depending on their characteristics, we could be like them or we could be completely different. Victor is an example of how someone's child can become different from his parents. Victor grew up in a very loving family. Victor's parents loved, adored and raised people. His mother and father were kind parents who loved all their children and even adopted some of them. They gave time, money and encouragement to their children. All they wanted was for their children to have a good education and goals for themselves. Victor had a perfect childhood and for some reason he grows up a little spoiled and maybe because he is selfish. He is stubborn and inflexible. For years he studies all sorts of scientific theories that support many false things such as alchemy. When Victor leaves and goes to university, his professors make fun of these scientists and yet Victor stubbornly sticks to their theories before he begins to believe the professors. When he created the monster, he never thought about the wisdom of doing such a thing. When the monster proves horrible and scary, Victor thinks to himself, abandons the m...... middle of paper ......he would eat him, even when the monster repeatedly said he wouldn't . It upset him so much that it just pushed him over the edge. You would do the same thing. Shelley is trying to show that people shouldn't base their judgments on appearances, because it's what's on the inside that counts. Characteristics are passed down through parents and grandparents just as they are established by how you are raised. Victor had a wonderful childhood and yet he turned out to be completely different from his parents. Power can be death. The power Victor wanted drove him mad. He gave birth to a creature as compassionate as himself, but treated her like a monster and led him to kill everyone Victor loved. The creature made Victor feel as alone as he did. Shelley tries to convey to his audience the effect of loneliness among people throughout their lives.
