Probably because of my experience, I somehow believe that teenage life turns people into more "mature" behaviors by unconsciously gaining awareness of groupthink, the kind of lies which is inadmissible but always unavoidable with the clause "in certain circumstances". 1 year ago, I went to a school in Beijing as an exchange student. I was invited to vote on how class committee members were selected in a freshman class, the teacher told me it was the first time they had done so. I had two choices: “president chosen by the teacher” or “president chosen by classmates”. Impressed by my three years of political and liberal studies in Hong Kong, I unwittingly took up the issue of asking myself to choose between a powerful government and a republican system. I certainly understood that a "republic system" would bring positive effects to its people, which, in this circumstance, the students; And it wasn't just practical for choosing class president, it also meant one or more more significant changes. I was the last to vote, all previous students voted for “teacher's choice president”. In the end, the voting process ends with self-censorship of my ideas and ignorance of the facts, caused by my loyalty, or perhaps respect towards the class, I myself voted for “selected by the teacher” and lied . I somehow resonate with Stephanie Erricson because of this episode, which is why I pick up my pen and write the following. I am a groupthink liar, sharing the same characteristics as Erricsson's groupthinker. The most obvious characteristic is the liar's self-censorship of ideas, which is the result of the groupthink process, defined by Erricson as "dissent... middle of paper... be loyal to it as a way of respecting the culture and behaviors of those students, consequently, I voted for "selected by the teacher" to show that I agree with their thinking, I preferred to lie. I am a groupthink liar as I have censored my own ideas and ignoring the facts loyalty and respect for the class, as Erricson said "the rest is history", I cannot vote in that class again, this incident and its As a result they have become part of my personal history and memories, just as history will not apologize to the victims and punish the dishonest demagogue, for me lying has become an incontrovertible fact. I thought groupthink was unacceptable, but in reality it is unavoidable in this particular circumstance. After all the rest is history, goodbye to the past and move forward, let this episode be one of the lessons of life, it teaches me to understand human nature more deeply.
