He was too dependent on Polonius and Laertes to control his thoughts and every move. In the end, everything was taken away from her and she was left with nothing but herself. Hamlet committed the murder of his father and his father was gone. Although her love for Hamlet was real, she died without knowing that Hamlet truly loved her. “I loved Ophelia. Forty thousand brothers with all their amount of love could not reach my figure. What will you do for her?" (V, 1, 247-249). She fights a constant battle between wanting to please her father and brother and the strong love she feels for Hamlet. The ban on pursuing a relationship with Hamlet does nothing but make Ophelia's life much more complicated. Her expectations are almost impossible and the men in her life constantly ask her for too much
