The world contains many ultracrepidarians, people who express opinions and facts about matters beyond their capacity for knowledge or expertise. In society there are people who know and there are people who think they know. Often, the people who think they know make themselves feel best and create the loudest noise. These people need to make sure they appear more educated than they actually are and they need to make sure everyone knows it. They like to pretend to be an expert, however, they don't have what it takes to become one. Take the cast of Pawn Stars, for example. Family members Rick, Corey, and Richard Harrison operate a world-famous pawn shop in Las Vegas, televised on their own television show. This TV show, which airs on the History Channel, records random people bringing their “rare” items to sell to pawnbrokers. The owners always share their experience and knowledge about every single item brought and negotiate a price. As believable as the show is, it is completely staged and scripted. The pawn shop is a replica of real merchandise and each "customer" is scripted and assigned an item to "sell". There are few parts of the show that are authentic, yet viewers are led to believe that Rick, Corey, and Richard are truly experts in many assorted or ultracrepidarian topics.
