The purpose of the Grand Jury is “to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial” (Miller, 2015). It is perfectly logical why the director of the film did not include this trial, since during the Grand Jury trial, all the evidence against the defendants is presented to the judge (Miller, 2015). Vinny was surprised at how easily he received the documents, until his girlfriend (Mona Lisa Vito) tells him that the prosecutor had to share them with him, and that's part of the discovery process. The prosecution is legally obligated to share its information with the defense. Now that we have discussed the preliminary events, we enter the trial part of the judicial process. This is the part of the trial where both the defense and the prosecution present their cases to the jury, the judge, and the rest of the courtroom.
