It is the government that offers the public the opportunity to eat healthy even when they are not in school. As David Zinczenko, editor in chief of Men's Health Magazine, once said: “Down any major street in America and I guarantee you will see one of the more than 13,000 McDonald's restaurants in our country. Now go back up the block and look for a place to buy a grapefruit.”(392) There is a lot of truth in this statement. Most people flock to fast food restaurants simply because it's so convenient for them. They can do a drive-thru on their way to work, a meeting, home or on a break. However, they can't just go out and buy an orange from a street vendor who doesn't exist. This is more of a long-term goal for two reasons. It's not realistic for the government to step in and just build entire grocery stores. And we need to let the current generation of children reach the age where they become more independent. They must be able to make decisions themselves. Otherwise you end up in a situation where you eat what is presented to you. You need to be able to go out and purposely pass up a Whataburger while going to a Walmart for a few oranges. This is also encouraged by what is taught in schools. If children are forced to adopt healthier eating habits as children, then it becomes a habit. Once you develop this habit, it becomes normal and will be
