The forest covers the Amazon basin, the second longest river in the world. The Amazon is home to many animals and even some of the largest plants. This rainforest has a wide variety of plants and animals. 1/5 of the world's plants and 1/10 of all mammal species are found here. Africa: Central Africa has the second largest rainforest in the world. In the south-east, on the large island of Madagascar, the territory was once covered with dense forests, but unfortunately much of it has disappeared.
