For example, the ax and meteor that appear in Gilgamesh's first couple dreams all represent the character Enkidu. “Mom, I had a second dream. In the streets of strong-walled Uruk lay an axe; the shape was strange and people crowded around. I saw it and I was a girl. I leaned in, deeply drawn to it; I loved him like a woman and took him by my side." (The Epic of Gilgamesh page 67). As I said before, the ax that Gilgamesh talks about represents the character Enkidu. The ax dreamed by Gilgamesh specifically symbolized Enkidu's battle performance. In the dream Gilgamesh loves the ax and wears it on his hip, which represents that in battle they are each other's partners and protectors. In the dream Gilgamesh also talks about a meteor. The meteor also represents that of Enkidu and symbolizes that Gilgamesh was seen by God as an envoy and fell from the sky above him. The feelings Gilgamesh has for the symbols of Enkidu are compared to the love for a woman. This means that Gilgamesh has strong feelings for Enkidu: he is most likely lonely and desires a relationship of some kind.
