Topic > Personality Persistence: A Study of Tony and Bruce in…

Bruce always had a home and food, but it took him a while to find a mate (Apted, 2006). His safety needs were met once he grew up and could take care of himself as boarding school failed to protect him from other children who bullied him. Furthermore, Bruce did not experience a sense of belonging until he was older. He was beaten by other children at school and did not appear to be happy. Once he grew up and entered school, he served on a student body and school board. Later in life, Bruce was a member of a cricket team and the father of his family. His esteem was not fully developed until later in life when he was no longer targeted by others, however he did not believe in himself to play international cricket, so it was debatable whether he was ever fully developed or not. By the time Bruce reaches old age, he will have achieved self-actualization as he appears to have few regrets about how his life turned out (Larsen & Buss, 2014). At some point in his life he realized that teaching was not a long-term job for him and decided to quit, but if he hadn't done so perhaps he wouldn't have achieved self-realization as he would never have been truly happy with his life.
