How many students come from where “SES,” or socioeconomic status, often indicates the type of institution in question. A large percentage of top-quartile SES students suggests one of the nation's elite universities. Conversely, you can bet that a preponderance of the two lowest-quartile SES students will get you to a community college (Padron, 2014). This suggests that differences in educational institutions will determine the educational level of an individual or group in society, but one must keep in mind the fact that just because some individuals and groups belonging to a particular socioeconomic status does not guarantee them a successful career . Aside from inequality in education, this does not outweigh the positives that come from this institution. The education system helps young minds become the future professionals of their generation; enabling them to learn in accordance with an evolving society. A career in the police can be used as an example of the changes occurring in society, requiring changes in the training of police officers.
