Noah and the Ark The story of Noah and the ark is probably one of the most read stories in the Bible. Maybe it's because of the great tragedy it portrays, or because it's a story of salvation. Noah and his family along with the animals were saved from the flood, while other people and animals died as a result of it. Growing up the story of Noah and the ark was one of my favorites; Simply because of the drawings that describe the story. They seemed so beautiful to me, when after so many years I'm realizing the whole story. The story of humanity's destruction and the story of regrowth. I chose this topic because I realized how little I know about Noah and the ark. I'll tell the story of Noah and the ark and answer a couple of questions I have. Who was Noah and why was he chosen by God? What did he have that God didn't see in others? I will also see what was happening at that time and why God wanted to erase all life. "The story of Noah and the ark is one of the dearest and most terrifying episodes." (Readers Digest) This article will not explore the possibilities of building such an ark, or whether it was sufficient to hold all the animals Noah had to board. I won't compare different flood stories, although that would be interesting too. I will delve into the story of Noah and the ark. I am looking for the reasons for the flood and the reasons why Noah was chosen for the task of building the ark. Noah was the ninth descendant of Adam. Noah was the son of Lamech, grandson of Methuselah, and great-grandson of Enoch who “walked with God.” Lamech called his son Noah as if to say: "This one will console us for the pain of the work of our hands from the land that the Lord has cursed." (Genesis, page 25)Men began to increase in number.“ The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was but evil, continually. And the Lord regretted having made man on the earth and it grieved him in his heart. (Genesis 6:5-6) The Lord was about to exterminate the human race, livestock, reptiles and birds. God said, “I regret making them. (Genesis 6:7-8) The Lord found favor in Noah's eyes. Noah was chosen by God to build an ark. Noah was chosen because he was a r... means of paper... the purpose that God had commanded him, which was to save Noah and his family. This shows others that we too will be saved if we do what God commands. The story of Noah is a story that should remind us that there are consequences for abusing God's laws. We must remember that we all have a responsibility to uphold the laws that God has established. It is a story of salvation. Noah was saved unlike the others who died in the flood. The others did not do as God commanded them. As the Lord says in Jeremiah 18:7-8 “If at any time I should announce that a nation or a kingdom is going to be uprooted, pulled down and destroyed, and if that nation I have warned will repent of its wickedness, then I will surrender and not I will inflict on him the disaster I had planned." It seems that the Lord would have allowed other people to repent and perhaps be saved from the flood, just like Noah. I assume people made fun of Noah and his sons for building the ark. The other people, just like Noah, had probably never seen rain, and therefore could not believe that a flood was coming. These unbelievers perished in the flood. It was too late for them to repent. They had their chance, but they chose not to change course.
