The strengths One of the strengths of participatory leadership is that it allows collaborative participation among group members. As the leader involves each of the members, in one aspect or another, their skills, creativity and talents are developed. This gives the manager the advantage of understanding the characteristics and qualities of each member in order to provide training for continuous development. A second strength is the value added to the organization by each member's contributions and the development of their leadership skills. This strength allows members to be recognized with their impressive qualities that would allow for succession to existing leadership roles or new roles as they become available. This is a benefit to the organization as it creates strong competencies that are critical to the future success of the organization and the employee.A1b. Weaknesses Participative leadership has its own weaknesses. A weakness is the extensive time spent deliberating on issues, which for some organizations is very costly. The number of employees multiplied by the hours dedicated by each member, multiplied by their salaries, can make the participatory leadership style counterproductive and inefficient in terms of time, resources and money spent on research
