Sometimes, films are used to convey a particular message to audiences through moving images or a series of still images projected onto a screen. Over the years, film production has become a multi-billion dollar industry as it provides stimulating experiences and communication of perceptions, feelings, ideas or stories. Bollywood films are among the works of art used to illustrate various social happenings in society (Kabir 25). Various Bollywood films have created the presumption that poverty pushes an individual to engage in criminal activities. Over the years, the films have been produced in various neighborhoods where the occurrence of criminal acts is directly linked to the prevailing levels of poverty. In fact, you are more likely to see different forms of crime in Indian neighborhoods depicted in Bollywood films. Some of the crimes described include theft, murder, illegal business activities, and other illegal consequences. Therefore the films presented were used to demonstrate that the connection between poverty and crime in the Indian context and crime is the easiest way to do so. According to studies, this illustration in Bollywood films has further intensified the debate on the relationship between crime and poverty in society. Indeed, rich people who perpetrate crimes cannot be classified as motivated by their economic situation, but by other motivating factors dependent on their religion and community of existence (Bellour and Penley……middle sheet…..true local sense rather than influence its film technicalities and the demonstration of westernized film culture (Lorenzon 6 Therefore, there are various examples present to prove that Bollywood has not changed its niche because of Western culture or Hollywood, but the process of globalization that has changed the culture of Hindi cinema. To conclude, this article has demonstrated various examples of Bollywood films depicting poverty and crime through films. Most of the films in Hindi cinema are based on the genres like love, violence , religion, gender, ethnicity, crime and poverty (Kazmi 4).This certainly shows that the films presented have been used to depict the connection between poverty and crime in the Indian context and films based on crime. quite dominant in the Bollywood industry.
