Although summary courts-martial are rare nowadays, they are similar to an Article 15 (non-judicial) punishment. Only enlisted members may be tried within a summary court-martial; can result in a federal conviction unlike an Article 15. Summary court-martial can arbitrate minor crimes allegedly committed by enlisted service members.
