The image is a scale where the female side is higher than the male side. Since then, women have always been inferior to men, a perspective that can be traced back to the Bible. According to the Bible, Eve was created from Adam's rib, which should have been interpreted as him loving her because she was made of his flesh and had been corrupted so that women were inferior to a man. Even the United States, pioneers of freedom and rights, still pays a woman less than a man. Women's opinion is still questioned or in some cases not even listened to especially when they hold positions of power. In third world countries, if a woman is attacked or raped it is her fault, precisely because she is a woman. Infanticide, the killing of female children, is still prevalent in many areas of the world. Mothers got rid of baby girls so that they would not have to worry about dishonor or providing a dowry. This killing of women is also depicted in art. This work of art should remain on Tejon Street to remind us how far we have come as women and how we have a lot of work ahead of us to become a reality.
