Nomophobia, or non-cell phone phobia, is the feeling of anxiety that most people feel when they cannot use their cell phones or do not have a cell phone. Think about how you feel when you don't have your phone with you or when the battery runs out. Some teens say cell phones improve their lives by making simple tasks, like texting someone, more convenient. About 75% of teenagers own a cell phone and almost half of these are smartphones. Although cell phones make life easier for teenagers, their excessive use is harmful to their health, interfering with their ability to function effectively in society and creating a dangerous environment for people in other countries. How often do you use cell phones? ? Physical contact with cell phones is very harmful for teenagers. Cell phones emit radio frequency waves, or electromagnetic radiation, which are absorbed by the human body. There have been several concerns that cell phone radiation could cause cancer in people, especially younger people such as teenagers. Although there is no concrete evidence of this, many people believe that these radio waves may be carcinogenic. Poor ergonomics while using cell phones is another way to harm the body. Many teenagers suffer from headaches, neck, shoulder and hand pain due to poor ergonomics when using their cell phones. Often, texting is one of the main factors that make our fingers hurt. Another example of bad ergonomics is having small fonts and holding the device too close to your face to see better, instead of increasing the font size, which hits the eye causing damage. With new smartphones, most teenagers spend their time on the Internet or texting, which causes damage to their eyes and weakens them... middle of paper... breaking parts and they can easily hurt themselves without a adequate security. There are people, mostly children, who work hard to mine the material to make the phone. There are many benefits to using cell phones; however, not many teenagers think about the disadvantages of cell phone use. Cell phone radio waves are not safe for teenagers; it can be a possible cause of cancer. Cell phone addiction causes teens to communicate poorly and be unable to focus on the more important things in life, like education. Teens are the age group that gets smartphones faster than any other age group, which allows phone companies to make profits. Incorrect production and disposal of mobile phones causes young children from other countries to work in a harmful environment. The benefits of having a cell phone are balanced with the negative aspects of using them.
