Men are men. Women are women. We have different strengths and weaknesses that we contribute to our society. For centuries, men have done most of the hunting and gathering, while women are the caretakers and watch over the family. The roles held by women are different from those held by men. So why the push for equality between the two? We will never be the same in physical or mental strength again. Men and women will always be different people and of different genders. Women should not have the same and equal rights as men due to differences in physical strength, knowledge and authority. The US military is one of the strongest powers in the world. It was built on the strength, determination and tenacity of its fighting forces. These forces are primarily made up of men, however recently women have made their way to the forefront. Women believe they have what it takes to help fight and win in combat, but is putting them in combat roles now really a good idea? According to author Greg Sheridan, “A NATION that sends its women into front-line combat, close infantry, hand-to-hand combat and killing, is a nation that does not take combat seriously or has no respect for women seriously” (Sheridan). When nations expect women to be able to fight and kill in combat alongside men who have had much more experience in these aggressive roles, they do not take their militaries seriously. The army's job is to win wars, this cannot be done with soldiers who do not have enough experience to do so. Fighting in combat requires large amounts of physical strength, which most women do not possess. “Because women have less testosterone than men, they have smaller muscle fibers which results in the development...... middle of paper......a typical American family?” Livestrong.com.
