When the presenter talked about bourgeois female ideals, I realized that I consider women involved in sex work as victims. My belief was that no woman would be willing to engage in sex work and clearly something had happened to them in their life that contributed to their desire or need to engage in this work. I thought that people in sex work needed to be helped, and my belief will significantly hinder my ability to work with people affected by sex work or explore their sexual identities. I am proud to believe in autonomy, especially so that women can choose for themselves.
