Lust and LoveWhen you look at the idea of "teenage love", the story of "Romeo and Juliet" comes to mind. Shakespeare's play carefully examines what it means to be truly “in love.” The basic context is that two families have an old argument that causes a lot of pain and conflict. When the children, Romeo and Juliet, fall in love, chaos ensues, because neither child is able to let their families know that they have been secretly married. Because of their inability to tell the truth, Romeo and Juliet must hide and keep their love hidden. Because of their immaturity, too many people didn't know what was happening. Friar Laurence aggravates the problem with his choices. So, if you carefully examine "Romeo and Juliet", Friar Lawrence is clearly guilty of all the deaths due to the following: 1) He marries Romeo and Juliet in the first place; 2) He kills Tybalt; 3) He fails to properly inform Romeo of Juliet's faked death, thus killing them both. Due to Friar Laurence's decision to marry Romeo and Juliet when the two families had a long conflict with each other, he causes death in "Romeo and Juliet", as he believes that their lustful love will bring the families to peace once they are married. “But come, you wavering young man, come with me. In a way I will be your assistant; Because this alliance can prove so happy as to transform the resentment of your families into pure love" (II, iii, 97-100). In this quote, Friar Laurence talks to Romeo about marriage and how, although the friar is aware of the feuds between the families, he still suggests that everything will work out in the end once he marries them. This part of the story sets up much of the drama that will happen later. From the F......middle of the paper......problems. Although his intentions were good, they did not go as planned. Marrying Romeo and Juliet after Romeo declared his love for her in a short space of time getting to know each other was not a good choice. This deepens their affection for each other, which causes Romeo to kill Tybalt on second impulse. Friar Lawrence indirectly caused Tybalt's death. Not only did he create more problems throughout the entire story, but he ultimately kills both Romeo and Juliet, as he does not properly tell Romeo about Juliet's fake death, making Romeo believe that Juliet was actually dead. This prompts Romeo to seek out the apothecary and look for poison to kill himself, so that he too can lie dead next to Juliet. Thanks to “Romeo and Juliet”, it can be seen that Shakespeare conveys the message that passionate and blinding love could lead to many tragedies, including death..
