Topic > The Effects of Sexual Orientation on Society - 1976

Many issues have emerged in our culture that may conflict with a traditional point of view. Day after day I see people abandoning conservative lifestyles and moving on to flashy, loud ones. I cannot identify a single group or sector of people, beliefs or ideologies that is morally altering future generations; but I will talk about sexual orientation and how it affects us, socially, emotionally and politically. There is a wide range of dispensed ideas that influence multiple areas of our lives as a national community. However, the real challenge is lifestyle choice. Would it be one in which you live as a morally upright citizen in an increasingly corrupt world, or one in which you allow your moral mandates to be dictated by various media, entertainment, and pop culture ideologies? The homosexual lifestyle has been around for centuries, however, initially it was a private affair and those involved felt that they would be ridiculed or attacked for such crimes, which were considered crimes against the natural orientation of humanity. Around 1970, during the birth of the feminist movement and the latter part of the sexual revolution, young women began to question their sexual orientation. They “were not aware of or were unable to understand their sexual attraction to other women.” These women worked closely together and had a natural attraction to each other. This attraction could not be interpreted as a close relationship, but was interpreted as sensual. As human beings we desire intimate relationships with each other like those of a sister with a friend and a mother with a daughter; but when we know when the relationship has become... middle of paper... it's a shame to be gay or lesbian sitting in an office that governs people. Those in positions “must understand the conflicts surrounding the use of power” because they have the ability to impact the lives of millions of people. I believe a government official should practice abstinence and so should Christians. I believe that the further America strays from moral rectitude the worse our economy becomes, but no one has made that connection yet. When will a president finally say that abortion is illegal? It might just put some of those women on birth control. My argument is not about government and it's not about politics, but: "What will the world also come to?" People should sit down and rationalize in their minds the correlation between God and the United States, and go back to its basic principles, after all, it was a man of God who wrote the constitution.
