William Edward Boeing was a very intelligent and driven man. He created the Boeing Company. William Edward Boeing was born on October 1, 1881 in Detroit, Michigan. William Edward Boeing was named after his father. His father's real name is "Wilheim Boing" but his name was retranslated to "William Boeing" after he moved to America. William Edward Boeing is the first son of William Boeing and Marie Ortmann. William's father was a veteran of the "Austro-Prussian War". His father "emigrated to the United States in 1868 from North Rhine-Westphalia". He was a volunteer to bring letters of introduction to German families in Detroit. William's father worked on a farm, then in a lumber yard, and finally in a hardware store. He met a man who owned a local lumberyard from Vienna. William Boeing married his boss's daughter. Several years after marrying his boss's daughter, he opened his own business. He sold land, iron and timber. He provided a comfortable life for his wife, Marie, and two children, William and Caroline. William Boeing built a beautiful home for his family in Detroit. He also purchased the finest library in the city during German life. He accomplished a lot during his lifetime. William's father had many hopes and dreams. He went from being a poor worker to a wealthy man who continued to push himself to become better. He accomplished a lot during his lifetime. He went to New York on a business trip and got sick. He died of the flu on his way home. William was a child when his mother remarried a Virginia doctor and left Detroit. Young William did not get along with his mother's husband, so he was sent to several boarding schools.
