Today? Abortion may be the cause of the death of many extraordinary people before their life even begins. How do you know if the person was killed before they had the chance? Abortion should be illegal anyway, because no matter what it is a form of murder. Abortion is the removal of an embryo from a pregnant woman before the end of pregnancy (Rich. Wagner). Approximately 1.21 million abortions are performed each year, or one-fifth of all pregnancies in the United States (Ballaro. Wagner). Over 40 million babies have been aborted since 1973 (Wilson). These are a lot of children who haven't even been given a chance to live. 11% of abortions occur in the second trimester (Ballaro. Wagner). Abortion has always been a full-fledged state rather than government law. The case of Roe v. Wade started the battle over whether or not abortion is legal. The case of Roe v. Wade made abortion legal in 46 states (Chittom). People try to argue that the body belongs to the woman and therefore she should have the final choice about what happens to her body and her health. In the 1970s and 1980s, states attempted to pass laws to lower abortion rates.
