A Monster or a Hero (An Analysis of Frankenstein as a Hero) Since many people believe that the story of Frankenstein is a terrible monster, they are very wrong. This story created by the heartbroken Mary Shelley produces everything except a hideous monster named Frankenstein. Frankenstein is simply the average boy growing up and finding himself. He is very interested in learning, so as he grows up he begins to study the importance of knowledge. He then attended university in Ingolstadt. While at university he learns all about science, and after much hard work and dedication, he has regurgitated everything his teachers taught him. The more he studies, the more his love for bringing monsters back to life eases. “In ancient Greek mythology, Prometheus was considered the wisest of all the Titans. In the form of fire, Prometheus is credited with bringing knowledge and enlightenment to humanity. Penny Jones lays out the facts about Prometheus, the common modern-day hero. A hero isn't just someone who wears a cape, they're someone who makes a difference in the world. As the thought of monsters broods in his head, he is shown as a modern hero related to Prometheus, as they both create things, love mankind, and both had similar fates. To start, both Frankenstein and Prometheus showed their love for creating things. In this specific case of Frankenstein, he created the monster. The monster took over his entire life, becoming consumed with the idea of what would become of his creation. He wanted to take all the knowledge he gained in his short life in school and put it together into something big. “As I fixed my eyes on the baby, I saw something glistening on her breast. I took it; it was a... medium of paper... a challenge to the status quo of your own making." Sarah Rapp explains how being successful is a strange thing to understand. All in all, Frankenstein can be shown as the modern Prometheus compared to a hero in many different ways. You can see the difference between people who believe in heroes and those who don't believe in heroes. To begin with, both Frankenstein and Prometheus showed their love for creating things and love for the human race. Finally, these two modern heroes both had a similar fate. These two can be compared in many different ways, Jenifer Schusseler explains: "And now, the original manuscript is also the focus of the first phase of the 'Shelley-Godwin online archive, an ambitious digital project that will be released on Halloween'. Overall, there are many different ways in which these two can be compared.
