Change is when a person does not follow the daily routine. They may want to try something different or be forced to. Change can be for better or for worse. Places can face changes ranging from the weather, to the animals present, or to the changing seasons. Furthermore, objects can also handle change. Objects such as an iceberg may begin to melt or a forest fire may kill many trees in an area. As human beings, we are the ones who decide the change. We are in a position to make big decisions and possibly even become leaders to make change happen. If one person starts to change, others will follow, and hopefully, the change benefits everyone. Change affects us in the workplace, in team participation and in society. People may have to adapt to a new environment, new leader, or routine. Some people may adapt to change easily while others may never adapt at all. People usually think that breaking a routine can lead to a negative outcome. Growing up, teachers always emphasized the importance of global warming and how we must change the way we live to avoid melting glaciers or the loss of animal habitats. In the book Our Iceberg is Melting, the penguins on the iceberg try to influence others in their community because their iceberg is in danger of melting. Some penguins in the community don't think that changing their location to a new iceberg is a good idea, even if their lives are in danger on the current iceberg. We must embrace change by having an individual take on a leadership role. There may be multiple leaders, but at least one person must realize that change is necessary for the better and success of others. Another way to embrace change is to bring the…center of the card…in tune with the influence of others. Change seeks to improve people's situations, but it affects people in different ways every day. People must embrace change and be open-minded to be successful in change. A leader must be present by building relationships with other members of his team and influencing others to achieve his goal. If Fred and Alice hadn't connected with others on their team, or influenced others in their colony, then the penguins might have lost their home and eventually died. Leadership is important when change is present because without a leader there would be no change, no new discoveries in the world. Works Cited Kotter, J., & Rathgeber, H. (2005).
