During the Renaissance there were many famous artists and thinkers. Two of them were Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Their art has inspired many famous artists and is still admired. These two artists shared many similarities and differences such as their background, style and specialty. Leonardo da Vinci was born to a wealthy notary father and a peasant mother. He lived with his mother for the first five years, then went to live with his father and grandfather. His father had married a 16 year old girl who sadly died young and it was only when Leonardo turned 16 that his father remarried. He received an informal education in Latin, geometry and mathematics. In 1466 it was modeled by a master artist named Verrocchio. When Leonardo was 20 years old, his father opened a workshop for him and he was officially qualified as a master.
