When children reach a certain age, they love having their own money to spend. Although they sometimes receive money for birthdays and other holidays, some parents pay their children for household chores. While this benefits the child in trying to have their own money, there are many pros and cons to giving children an allowance for household chores. Some people believe that paying children to help out around the house is redundant. Although most children are assigned certain daily, weekly, and even monthly tasks, these tasks should be done regardless of whether or not a child receives an allowance. Therefore, giving children their own money to spend and calling it an allowance could affect how they do household chores. This could be a good or bad thing.
