Unfortunately, most of our society associates the black community, especially males, as criminals. The issue of police brutality on Black males is becoming a growing problem in our society today. There have been many incidents of accidental and intentional shootings of black men by police officers in our country recently. For example, last year a man was shot in a dark stairwell because an officer got scared and fired his gun instead of using flash flight to better see the dark space. The officer accused of killing the man, Akai Gurley, was later found guilty of charges following the horrific incident. This incident in our society can relate to a similar scene from Crash. Officer Tom Hansen was walking home after a shift when he saw a man hitchhiking on the side of the road and decided he would help him and take him where he needed to go. The man gets into the car and begins talking to the officer casually, but when the black man begins making comments about the officer's interests in music and other things, the officer becomes irritated and tells the officer 'black man who will have to pull over and who will have to find another way to get to his location. The black man says he wasn't teasing him and tries to show him something he thinks the officer might like. The black man starts to put his hand in his pocket and the officer thinks he is reaching for a gun and the officer tells him to stop what he is doing but the black man continues to reach for his pocket. As a result, Officer Hansen shoots the black man and then realizes that the black man never had a gun and was trying to show him a religious statue. The officer panics and dumps the black man's body on the side of the road. This
