Topic > Credit Cards and Foreclosure Crisis - 1372

This economic crisis began with the home mortgage and credit card industry. We have a generation that never understood how to use credit properly and now we have more bankruptcy filings than we have ever had as a nation. The recession started because our nation was growing too fast for itself, people were taking out loans for homes they couldn't afford and banks were granting them. We've also had a huge credit problem lately; I've personally seen this with my parents too, their interest rates have gone up. Real credit cards, not debit cards with credit logos, represent a huge liability, which many people have shown they are unable to handle. If one million teenagers fail to pay a $500 payment at 22% interest, or $610,000,000, which is sent back to the credit industry, this in turn puts pressure on both the market and the companies that hire them the debt. This process began to suffer for national economies. According to the US census, there are approximately 21,500,000 adolescents. So the million I just mentioned represents only about 5% of American teenagers. Thus, while real estate mortgages devastated the banking sector, the credit sector was also under attack. Ultimately, it all came back to the stock market, which led to the recent crash. When debt hit the stock market and businesses, investors saw what was happening and withdrew their funds, causing businesses to collapse. The collapse of the market and the real estate sector occurred because the banks were making overly generous loans that were only due and never repaid the debt. banks back and inflating housing costs, this put pressure on the banks and weakened their stocks, so everything slowly started to spiral downwards. Since the banks felt the pressure of all these old men, they had to apply to charities and pretend that these charities made money through their efforts. We spend our days emulating knowledge that took us two decades or more to learn. Yet, somehow, we still don't have the passion to leave a legacy and become great. I think our future is bleak, dreamers are disappearing, innovations are slowing down and the world is slowly crumbling before us. We can change our destinies and find a better future, but if we lack the passion to seek a new horizon, we will never have this possibility. It is not the distance traveled that we will remember; are the steps taken to get there. Until we all take personal responsibility for our fiscal situation, big business and the rich will continue to reign over us. I mention this simply because we are not just nations, we are humanity and we are all afraid of what is to come and only unity can save us.
