Destination #2Bata Shoe Museum: Where are the Nikes? The Bata Shoe Museum is literally a shoe museum. I made jokes about the museum probably smelling like feet but neither Paul nor Julienne laugh. Well, Julienne did a little but only because there was another company present so I kept quiet. It's an 8 minute drive from Casa Loma. We stopped in front of a sleek, modern-looking gray building. Paul said that by learning about shoes we learn about Canadian culture. It's amazing how he can say that with a straight face. Julienne and I entered the building and a semi-permanent exhibition. We need to stop and look around. It is an elaborate, clean and artistic display, almost scientific in its positioning. Another look at the sign says it features Native North American footwear. It was something I never expected from something that only features shoes. Julienne tugged on my hand with the barely controlled enthusiasm of an 8-year-old, as her ingrained love of shoes grew.
