Laissez Faire was a policy that the government should interfere as little as possible in the nation's economy in the 1800s. This means that the government has little regulation in business and that businesses can operate in a purely free market. He had advocated self-interest and individual competition and opposed government taxation and regulation of trade. It had reached its peak during the era of industrialization in the 1870s; a time when American manufacturing was made easier as factories were run hands-free. However, the government's Laissez Faire policy was in fact encouraged and carried forward by direct government intervention. Not many people know this, but the government played a major role in Laissez Faire politics during the industrial age. This occurred during the period of railway construction and when large businesses flourished which greatly increased economic growth.
