IntroductionSince ancient times, humans have invented many new communication methods to transfer their messages to each other. Now we can see that there are many methods by which we can establish effective communication. One such reliable communication method is Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET). It is also referred to as a mobile mesh network. This is an automatically configured network of mobile devices connected via wireless links. It is a new wireless paradigm technique for mobile hosts. These Ad Hoc networks are not like traditional wireless networks that rely on fixed infrastructure but these hosts depend on each other so that the network is always connected (Advanced Network Technologies Division n.d.). This represents a complex distribution system that has available wireless nodes of mobile devices that can self-organize into temporary and arbitrary Ad Hoc network topologies in a free and dynamic manner. It provides users to use internet connection without any prerequisite infrastructure. We can therefore see a Mobile Ad Hoc network as an autonomous collection of all mobile devices such as mobile phones, sensors, laptops etc. Which transfer data and communicate with each other over a wireless link and provide the functionality required by the network when fixed infrastructure is not available (Techtermsn.d.). This report will provide in-depth insight into the potential of ad hoc networking and the technical issues developers and protocol developers face with it. These issues could be with your internet connection, routing service, resource discovery, etc. In this report we will have a closer view of Mobile Ad Hoc networks, what are their basic origin and their properties... middle of paper... ....le-ad-hoc-network-characteristics-and -features/Chlamtac I, Conti M, Liu J,2003, Mobile ad hoc network: imperatives and challenges, accessed May 21, 2014, http://ctc. psut.edu.jo/sites/raad/wireless_notes/Mobile-ad-hoc-networking-imperatives-challenges.pdf Mueller S, Tsang T, Ghosal D, Multipath Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks: Issues and Challenges, accessed 21 May 2014, http://alumni.cs.ucr.edu/~ibasaran/research/Multipath%20Routing%20in%20Mobile%20Ad%20Hoc%20Networks%20Issues%20and%20Challenges.pdf Hoebeke J, Moerman I, Dhoedt B, Demeester P, An Overview of Mobile Ad Hoc Networks: Applications and Challenges, accessed May 21, 2014, http://cwi.unik.no/images/Manet_Overview.pdf Ghosekar P, Katkar G, GhorpadeDr. P, 2010, Mobile Ad Hoc Networking: Imperatives and Challenges, accessed May 21, 2014, http://www.ijcaonline.org/manets/number3/SPE78T.pdf
