Contrary to this notion, however, turbines are mostly built in vast open terrain with little human activity. For example, the world's third largest wind farm, Roscoe Wind Farm, is located on farmland 45 miles southwest of Abilene, Texas. This means that most wind farms cause virtually no disturbance to humans during both transportation and construction. Furthermore, even if the construction of the turbines caused a disturbance, the benefits of the energy source itself would outweigh this minor inconvenience. Furthermore, wind energy is cost-effective. According to Energy.gov, a website dedicated to all energy rules, regulations and news, “Wind energy is one of the cheapest renewable energy technologies available today, costing between four and five cents per kilowatt hour, depending of the wind resource and financing of the particular project” (2). Additionally, the wind provides the blades with energy to spin. No alternative power is needed to power any part of the wind turbine
