People see prison as a place you shouldn't end up, but freedom advocates have proven them wrong. They used prison, when they were arrested, to organize protests. The goal was to show white people that even behind bars the freedom movement continues even in difficult situations. The blacks refused to pay bail and strengthened their will to continue fighting. This, however, was no fun for whites because they could not break the blacks' strong will for freedom. It may have worked in the past, but going to prison now has a completely bad vibe.
