Why is technology taking over the world? In today's society, technology is used daily by every person in the world. The use of technology has become a big problem in today's world. People use technology for communication, research, business, etc. People are constantly on their cell phones, computers, iPads, tablets, or anything with the Internet. Technology has benefited the world in many ways, but it has caused even more problems. People can't drive without texting or calling someone, this has caused a huge amount of accidents. Every day you see a person on the phone; people cannot carry on with their daily lives without a technological device. Technology has taken over today's generation. People are constantly on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. All these social media networks take time away from people's lives. Kids are constantly on their cell phones, whether it's texting or visiting a social media site. Children devote all their time and efforts to technology, which is drastically changing the generation. Teens are inspired by what they see on the Internet. When they see drugs, swear words, and other disrespectful things, they think it is okay to do or say those things. Music also influences people's lives, especially children. Most song lyrics today contain a great deal of profanity. When children or teenagers listen to these types of songs, they think that this is the way they should be or act. One of the biggest problems with technology is texting and driving. According to the National Safety Council, “cell phones cause 26% of traffic accidents nationwide.” () Most accidents are not caused by actual text messages. Talking on a portable device causes some. If this continues, more and more people will disappear from the world and live in their technological devices. The world has not yet caught up with today's rapid technological growth. People need to stop giving all their attention to their devices and pay more attention to their lives. It is sad to say that technology has become an addiction for most people. Technology addiction has taken over today's generation and it is important to make changes.
