.Political issueSea level rise is becoming a major issue along with global warming and climate change for many regions near coastal areas, Miami, Florida is one of the most harmful areas. With a current population of 413,892 living just 6 feet above sea level, Miami is positioned as one of the first areas to feel some of the disastrous effects of climate change (Johnson). Within the next 100 years, rising sea levels will have the potential to damage South Florida's fragile barrier island, the people living near coastal areas, and its attractive subtropical beaches (Madigan A12). However, coastal areas, which represent the largest area affected by disasters, are not the only area that will suffer the effects of climate change. Looking further inland, the Everglades, which provides Miami with a source of fresh water, may be contaminated due to high ocean salt levels, rendering them unusable (Madigan A12). The Miami Everglades depend on precipitation as a source of fresh water, however with rising sea levels the enormous amount of salt water is detrimental to their health (Linhoss, Chambers, Wozniak, and Ankersen). Sea level rise will cause the Florida Keys to collapse along with Key West (Madigan A12). The high risk of flooding facing Florida's islands suggests a declining environment for several critically endangered species (Linhoss, Chambers, Wozniak, and Ankersen). By the end of this century, the effects of melting snow and ice reserves and thermal expansion of ocean water mass are significant factors attributed to sea level rise affecting Miami (sea level rise). Thermal expansion, once the primary driver of sea level rise, has slowed, causing access... to paper... but also the preservation of beaches and wildlife around the coastal area. The plans to protect some areas of Miami are achievable and do not require evacuation of any areas, which the Miami community should respect. This process requires immediate attention to prevent sea level rise problems before it's too late, which requires everyone on board and the plan put into action ASAP. By addressing the coast in a sustainable way, there are future benefits for Miami. Since we are not aware of the magnitude of the effects of sea level rise and the resulting impacts, this adaptation plan must be implemented to take into account the different levels of unknowns that could be part of the effects (Marrone, Nicholls, Pardens , Lowe, Vafeidis, Hinkel and Watkiss).,
