Some women take this to the extreme by undergoing plastic surgery on their bodies. These operations could be anything from implants to facelifts. Likewise the procedures are not the best alternative for a person's body. Some surgeons have refused to perform surgery on anyone under the age of 18 due to the effects this can cause. The operation can cause damage to the body before it is fully developed and therefore cause distortions in appearance. Side effects or problems that can occur with plastic surgery are skin discoloration and infections. Procedures like liposuction can also cause problems. During the procedure, fat cells are destroyed. This makes it difficult for the patient in later years when fat is added to their body again. This fat would appear in unwanted locations such as the back. The financial stress that the operations entail also places a burden on the individual undergoing the procedure. Surgeries like the ones described above cost the person a large amount of money that could have been used to pay for something else like a home mortgage.
