For as long as I can remember I have been taught that a person should always have goals. I remember when I started high school my teachers asked me what my goals were. I always responded with “getting all A's in my classes” or “doing well in school.” To this day I still have many goals for myself and I have achieved some of the ones I set for myself. I completed up to the high school level and did not fail a single class, which is one of the goals I set when I entered high school. I didn't want to fail because that would show up on my transcript and make it harder for me to complete high school and get into a college. I remember in my senior year of high school the counselors had to involve each of us and make sure we were on track to graduate and that we understood what we wanted to do with our future, and I was always happy to know that I was on track. Then I told them I was going to college and studying marketing, and they were surprised to hear that I already had a plan and goals for myself. Getting into college was also one of my goals, a big one actually. I wanted to be the first in my family to attend college. Which I did, I got into the only college I wanted to attend in Oregon. I had this goal throughout high school, I told myself that Community College was not an option. Even though towards the end of high school I had doubts and thought that maybe it wouldn't be an option for me to attend college, I overcame them and achieved my goals. Now that I'm here, I've had to set new goals for myself at Portland State University. I am majoring in business marketing and plan to earn my bachelor's degree in business marketing. Which means I have to take the right courses to get that degree and make that… middle of the paper… be real. I applied and got the job! Since working at Telefund I have learned many things about Portland and the University. Telefund offers you so many opportunities that I didn't know were possible. Every single day I hear from alumni who graduated from Portland State and hear about their experience, how they liked the university, what they are doing with their degree, and how Portland State has helped them overall. Additionally, not only do I hear from alumni, but I also have the opportunity to hear from principals of several schools in Portland State and have the opportunity to ask them questions. I don't think I would know as much about college if I didn't work at Telefund. Telefund means being able to have a huge amount of opportunities, as well as learning about school every day and I wouldn't have all of this if I didn't work at Telefund.
