Topic > Paying for Higher Education - 1074

College is a necessary part of higher education for many reasons. While college can be expensive and time-consuming, you can't get a degree without it. People may be able to learn without having to go to college, but college is critical to getting a piece of paper that you went and earned a degree after years of hard work. However college is not meant for everyone, in some cases people are unable to function in a college environment, so they turn to alternative forms of education. In most cases people who can't function in a college environment didn't do well in high school, either due to laziness or simply a lack of know-how. College is something that is very necessary given our current economic state. When people talk about college normally the first thing that comes to mind is tuition. However there are several ways to get money for college. There are scholarships for people who have outstanding academic or sporting achievements. Most people have a family member or someone else they can call and ask for help from mom, dad or grandparents, but if all else fails there is always financial help. Financial aid is designed for someone who does not have the available funds to go to college. “To determine your financial need for federal student aid programs (except for an unsubsidized Stafford loan), your school subtracts the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from the cost of attendance.” (studentaid.ed.gov) Although financial aid can cover much of your tuition and costs, college is still very expensive. This is why starting at a community college is probably the best place to start. Community colleges are normally cheaper than their university count...... middle of paper...... effect. People don't necessarily have to go to college to be successful in the workplace. The thing that will really be recognized is how hard someone works. His basic knowledge in life is that nothing is easy or cheap and is worth having. Or maybe it's something you learn after going to college. College is a place of learning and irreplaceable experiences. So the wise decision is to go to college and get a degree. There is almost no reason not to do this, there are many ways to get money for this. It only takes a little time to get a better quality of life, it only takes four years to get lifetime benefits. Keep in mind that it is cheaper to attend a community college than a university, and that there are always ways to get money to do so. People learn a lot about life and gain some knowledge to help people be better prepared for life and the workplace.
