Topic > Heathrow Airport Analysis - 2420

Introduction I chose Heathrow Airport for my report because it is one of the most unlikely airports in the world. It is used by more than 90 airlines flying numerous passengers to 170 destinations. In my report, first of all, a little background of Heathrow Airport will be conducted, then the environmental impacts on noise, air, water, waste and biodiversity will be demonstrated. The current management policies and strategies of Heathrow Airport are detailed and it will eventually be concluded how the airport can make improvements in some areas. Force Transfer Station in 1943. The land was taken from Harmondsworth and construction began in 1944. Wimpey Construction built the new airport and took the name Heathrow from the hamlet. The Royal Air Force never used the airport and control passed to the Ministry of Civil Aviation in 1946. The Minister for Aviation, Lord Winster, officially opened the airport on 25 March 1946. On 31 May 1946, the airport was inaugurated by using it publicly. By 1947 it had three runways and three more were under construction. Queen Elizabeth II launched the first modern runways in 1953. Queen Elizabeth II also launched the Europa Building, currently known as Terminal 2, in 1955. Also in 1961, the Oceanic Terminal, known as Terminal 3, was disbanded to take with the flight departing for long-haul routes. At that time, Terminal 1 was also opened in 1968. In 1970, the cargo terminal was built and connected to Terminals 1, 2 and 3 by a tunnel. There was much more development process going on from the year 1970 to 1990, including the expansion...... half of the document......ye the strategy for each area to minimize the impact on the environment to demonstrate that London is green. To reduce emissions, the owners of Heathrow Airport should develop a system of fines for polluting vehicles and introduce taxes to promote the use of low-emission planes. They can also improve by employing covered vehicles for transport and wheel washing with shock absorbers to minimize dust emissions. For the improvement of biodiversity areas, the airport should create an important species rescue group and replace and renovate ponds. Furthermore, to minimize hydrological and ecological changes, they should have river channel design. The airport should demonstrate more powerful and effective actions to address impacts on its environment as they impact public health which is of most concern to a country.
