In continuation of Romans chapter 5 verse 20, the next sentence of this verse reads as follows: "But where sin increased, grace abounded all the more", note , the beginning part of the sentence stated just before the implementation of the comma, says: “But where sin abounded. This means that where sin was extremely abundant and immeasurable in the sense of having dominion, it no longer abounds having dominion over the lives of those who are born and formed in iniquity, but are instead set free from this curse through Jesus Christ. Because of the grace of God, we have been justified through faith unto redemption in salvation, praise God, sin is no longer present. In continuation of the phrase in verse 20, where it concludes by saying “grace abounded,” this should not be misunderstood to mean quantity or degree of measure. He is not conveying the thought of measurement as if to say that grace is weighed or numbered in measurements comparable to the system of the earthly kingdom, where man operates in this way. We must realize that God does not think or work like man. God will never conform to the ways of man; man must conform and then transform himself into the image and likeness of the person of God. What Scripture conveys to the minds of readers is that "grace", which is the unmerited favor of God's benevolence towards humanity, shatters and abolishes the stronghold of sin preventing it from dominating the lives of those who choose to be obedient and conform to God's will. The word grace in Greek is translated as “charis, pronounced khar'-ece; means kindness (as in rewarding), God's divine influence on the heart and its reflection in one's life: acceptable, benefit, favor or g...... middle of paper ......tle. What does “YOU SHALL NOT SIN” mean? What the Scripture says here in verse 1 is that if for any reason you should fall into sin, due to lack of consecration and vigilance you are not obligated to remain in the state of sin. God will grant you through His mercy another opportunity to be redeemed through the blood of Jesus Christ, to remove your sins. Jesus is the advocate of those who fall into the temptation of the flesh and sin. The word advocate in the Greek parakletos, pronounced par-ak'-lay-tos, means intercessor, counselor: comforter. Jesus Christ is represented as the mediator who counsels you for strength, showing you the way back to God. Once you return to the Father, He will comfort and protect you, only if you let Him. The Lord will never comfort you in the state of your sins, because He finds no pleasure in your sin.
