Technology has rapidly changed the face of organizations and how we interact with others on a daily basis. In an evolving market, technology provides growth opportunities for organizations and helps them remain competitive. Many organizations have tested the new theory of flextime working to use modern technology as a competitive advantage and a way to stay ahead of the competition. Flexible hours can have positive and negative effects on an organization. Positive effects include reducing overhead costs by saving money in the office by saving on the costs of supplies, electricity and the amount of space an organization needs, which helps the company participate in the "go green" campaign and schedules flexible also help people balance their work and personal lives. Unfortunately, flexible schedules can have negative effects on an organization, such as missing out on daily interaction with colleagues and customers and not interacting with management which can have negative effects on employee performance reviews and maintaining personal contact between groups. . Instant messaging, email and telephone have replaced face-to-face communication. Typical nine-to-five work hours are replaced by working virtually from the comfort of your own home. The key to an offsite team is for everyone to feel like they have an active role in the team and for everyone to feel like they are an asset to the team as well and not feel disconnected, which can easily happen by not participating in daily interaction with the squad. To keep everyone in the loop, management needs to hold mandatory face-to-face meetings on a weekly basis to allow all parties the necessary interaction… middle of the paper… technology for projects and issues. Employees need to have a balance between technology and human interaction. In conclusion, it takes a disciplined individual who can handle the positives and negatives of a virtual environment. Not all employees will be able to adapt to an independent environment, especially those who are unable to adapt to change. Management must keep an open mind and offer flexible hours to employees on a case-by-case basis. When working virtually, individuals tend to depend solely on technology, which is not always 100% accurate. The customer relationship built over the years will soon begin to fade along with the social skills we have acquired and improved over the years. Employees in a business context need an environment free of personal distractions and a team where they see themselves as an asset to the organization.
