The engine block is known to be the largest piece of metal in a car and also one of the most important parts of the engine where all the other components such as cylinders and pistons mounted inside it and also contains small holes which act as a passage for the circulation of coolant around the engine to regulate/control the engine temperature. The engine block is where combustion energy is then transmitted to mechanical energy through the rotation of the crankshafts which then causes the pistons to rotate up and down which drive the propeller/transmission system that moves the car . In previous car engine block designs, most were made of iron material, but nowadays engine blocks are made of lightweight aluminum alloy materials to reduce the weight of the car which contributes to good performance (this is mainly found in sports cars), even cars with aluminum engine blocks consume less fuel and produce fewer emissions than those with iron engine blocks.
